1st Anniversary

Cardy and I celebrated our 1st anniversary on Monday. I was feeling reminiscent all week thinking of all of the details of our wedding day, even getting teary eyed a time or two. I truly remember every minute leading up to our ceremony. I loved planning our wedding and all of the hard work we put into it definitely paid off. This has been quite a year for the both of us, one we will never forget. We have known each other for so long that it seems strange and almost unreal that the first year of our marriage has brought us even closer together. Cardy is such a part of me and I am truly blessed to be married to such an incredible person.

On Monday, when I got home from work Cardy had left a trail of rose petals from my parking spot in the garage, up the stairs & into the kitchen where there were a dozen red roses on the table. The rose petals then led from the kitchen all the way into our bedroom. His card and gift were on the bed. Later that night we had reservations to have dinner at the New Yorker downtown. We had a great night!

Lazy Monday

Okay, this has been the laziest day I have had in a long time! It was raining this morning when I woke up and I figured that since I didn't have to work, what better thing to do than curl up in my bed and lounge. I spent most of my morning in bed watching movies, reruns of 90210, and a marathon of Meet the Kardashians (I secretly want to be a Kardashian sister!). The only other thing I've done besides watch TV is update this blog. The funny thing is that I'm not feeling guilty about this because:

-my house is clean
-my laundry is done
-I didn't have any plans or priorities today
-it's a holiday
-lastly & most importantly, my husband said I could, because I deserve it! (He's at work of course).

A little update: Cardy is still working to finish his game. Last week was the worst, he worked well into the morning for 3 days in a row. He did get to spend the weekend at home with the exception of a couple hours in the office on Sunday. Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully he will be totally & completely done by this weekend. A girl can only hope!

You're goin' down!

It's that time of year...FOOTBALL SEASON! This is serious business in our household. Not only do we spend our Sunday's glued to our couch watching and analyzing every Denver Bronco's game throughout the entire season but for the last three years Cardy and I have played on a Fantasy Football league (or two, or three). For the past two seasons we have had our own league and Cardy is our league manager. We run a draft and have all of the team players over to our house for a draft party.
Basically it works like this: There are 10 teams in the league. Each team "drafts" actual players from the NFL according to position (so...QB, running backs, wide receivers, kickers, etc), then every week depending on how each player performs in real life (touchdowns, yardage, etc) your fantasy team earns points. Each week teams are matched up against others in the league and if your team scores the most points...you win!
So now, not only are we keeping track of the Broncos in our household, we are obsessed with scores and stats belonging to other teams and their star players.

Half of our group. I told you, this draft is serious business.

My oh so beautiful draft board! This is how we keep track of everyone's team

This year I'm in two leagues: 1) an almost all girls league with some of my fellow "football loving girlfriends" & 2) Cardy's league, where I'm the only girl (they don't mind, I know what I'm doing!). I know it sounds crazy and for those of you who don't know much about football, this is probably total nonsense. It's weird, but I've truly come to love this sport and it's something my husband and I enjoy doing together. I love that I know about the sport and I can certainly hold my own with "the guys" when they're talking football.

GO BRONCOS!

love is in the air...

On Saturday night we went to a "pre-wedding reception" for our good friends, Kelly & Jennica. They are officially getting married October 18th in New York (in Jennica's hometown) so Kelly's family hosted a party for all of us Salt Lakers beforehand. Kelly was a groomsman in our wedding last year and now he has asked Cardy to be part of his wedding party. I'm excited to take a trip to New York, it will be a first for the both of us. Jennica is from a small town in upstate NY so I'm trying to talk Cardy into flying to New York City for a few days after the wedding for an extra little vaycay.

Kelly is such a great friend to Cardy and we are thrilled to see him so happy. Jennica is an awesome girl and he is lucky to have found her! ♥
